Strong performances and an authentic script make the relationships feel real, while its thoughtful approach to trauma and healing gives the story lasting impact. The film has a slower pace, but if you enjoy intimate, character-driven films, this one is worth your time. See more Tommy E @ThomECheese 2d Gotta be honest: I'm a friend of the screenwriter so I'm a little biased, but I loved this film. A really beautiful story about trauma, growth, and how we constantly work to understand ourselves as we grow and change, dialectically holding the past and future in shared orbit. The nuanced performances from the leads and the surprising twist really captivated me, too. Just top tier independent cinema all around! Technically saw a screening of this back in December 2025 (complete with a conversation between Justy Kosek, the writer, and filmmaker Kevin Morales!) but I'm writing the review now (in August 2026) because the Defend Your Darlings (DYD) newsletter reminded me of how much I loved this film.
